Medium Between August 28-31, 2011, Resurgent Republic conducted its latest survey of 1000 American voters. The survey finds President Obama's standing among voters in real jeopardy. President Obama's joint session address on the economy will be received by an electorate that questions his leadership and believes his policies have made things worse. By almost every measure, President Obama's prospects for reelection are bad, and barring a dramatic turnaround in the economy, Obama is very vulnerable to defeat next year.

Medium Since our inaugural survey in April 2009, Resurgent Republic has been chronicling the migration of Independents away from Democrats and toward Republicans, driven by their strong opposition to Democratic fiscal and health care initiatives. Our 2010 post-election survey, conducted jointly with Democracy Corps, demonstrates clearly how Independent voters are now far closer to Republicans than Democrats on their outlook on the direction of the country, their attitudes about its political leadership, and their policy preferences. The 2010 mid-term election was a stunning rebuke to the Obama Administration and Democrats in Congress. Driven by growing opposition from Independents, a majority of voters disapproved of President Obama’s job performance as they went to the polls. These voters also gave early warning signs that their frustrations might carry over to 2012, according to our post-election national survey.
